Betty White is leaving her mark.
Jamie Lee Curtis stepped out on the 2022 Oscars red carpet Sunday night wearing a dazzling navy Stella McCartney gown as a nod to the late “Golden Girls” star, whom she’ll be honoring onstage during the telecast.
“Betty White was an animal rights activist and when I knew I was going to make a statement about her I went to Stella McCartney, who is an animals right activist. Stella, who uses sustainable materials [and] non-animal materials,” the “Halloween” actress, 63, told “Access Hollywood.”
“I went to [her] and said, ‘Hey, is it possible you might have something for me to wear to the Oscars?’ And they made me this dress. I feel like it is telling Betty’s story.”
McCartney is notably dedicated to sustainability and has experimented with alternative vegan materials and eco-conscious methods.
Taking the message to heart, Curtis accessorized with recycled platinum and ethically sourced diamond marquise star earrings by Cathy Waterman.

White died at the age of 99 in December 2021, and in honor of what would have been her 100th birthday on Jan. 17, fans launched the “Betty White Challenge,” donating $5 each to animal rescues or shelters in her name.
White was a dedicated animal rights activist who worked on saving endangered species and fixing conditions at the Los Angeles Zoo.
“Betty White demonstrated a lifelong commitment to helping animals in need, including dedicated support for local shelters and animal welfare endeavors, fiercely promoting and protecting animal interests in her entertainment projects and personally adopting many rescued animals,” Matt Bershadker, president of the nonprofit ASPCA, said after her death.
White even wrote a book about her passion for animals in 2011, titled, “Betty & Friends: My Life at the Zoo.” She also supported the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium; in 2014, the zoo’s entrance to its “Heart of Africa” exhibit was named Betty White Way.
