Carrie Underwood delivers heartfelt tribute to Naomi Judd during concert performance hours after her passing: 'Country music lost a true legend... sing with the angels, Naomi'

Carrie Underwood is among the country music fans paying tribute to Naomi Judd following her sudden death at the age of 76 on Saturday, April 30.

During her concert at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California, just hours after the tragic news of Judd's passing broke, Underwood asked fans to honor loved ones who they've lost along the path of life, People reported.

She then proceeded to directly mention Judd's death, talk about how it's affected the country music community, and then have her band kick into her heartfelt song of loss, love and faith, titled See You Again.

'This next song goes out to everybody who's ever lost someone that they loved, which is everybody,' Underwood said in the set-up to See You Again.

"But just because the people that we love are not here with us does not mean that they are not here with us and does not mean that you will not see them again someday,' the eight-time Grammy Award-winner added, before taking a moment to point up towards the sky.

Underwood then asked the audience to band together by pulling out a phone or lighter and shine it in honor of those who have passed away.

It's at this point that Underwood specifically mentioned Judd's death.

'Let's light up this place in memory of all those that we miss,' the Inside Your Heaven star said, adding, 'I know all of country music will be lighting something up for Ms. Naomi Judd.'

Heartfelt: The country music superstar paid homage to Judd by first asking the audience to remember loved ones lost along the path of life: 'This next song goes out to everybody who's ever lost someone that they loved, which is everybody,' she told the crowd

Underwood and her band then pulled at the heartstrings of all those in attendance with an emotional rendition of See You Again, which talks of the comfort in believing we will all see our lost loved ones again.

The song, which became Underwood's 18th consecutive Top 10 single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs in 2013, begins with a somewhat somber instrumental that quickly transitions into a bit more of an uptempo feel.

From there, the catchy chorus kicks in, which has Underwood conveying an uplifting feeling of hope and faith with lyrics like: 'I will see you again, oh - This is not where it ends - I will carry you with me, oh - 'Till I see you again.'

By the time the song delivers another verse and chorus, with a healthy dose of passion and emotion, the country crooner goes into a heartfelt breakdown.

'Sometimes I feel my heart is breaking - But I stay strong and I hold on 'cause I know - I will see you again, oh - This is not where it ends - I will carry you with me, yeah, yeah,' she sings with just a piano underneath.
