Man who shot Lady Gaga's dog walker sentenced to 21 years in prison - Page Six

The man who shot Lady Gaga’s dog walker and stole her French bulldogs last year has been sentenced to over two decades behind bars.

James Howard Jackson accepted a plea deal on Monday, per the Associated Press, and will spend the next 21 years in prison in Los Angeles County.

According to the LA County District Attorney’s Office, Jackson pleaded no contest to one count of attempted murder but admitted the allegation of inflicting great bodily injury and to a prior strike. He had been charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit a robbery and assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

“The plea agreement holds Mr. Jackson accountable for perpetrating a coldhearted violent act and provides justice for our victim,” the DA’s office said in a statement.

Jackson was one of five people — three men and two accomplices — who participated in the violent robbery and its aftermath.

Authorities say the perpetrators did not specifically target Lady Gaga, as they did not know the dogs belonged to the musician. They believe the group’s motive was the value of the French bulldogs, a breed that can cost thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars.

Jackson and others drove around several Los Angeles neighborhoods on Feb. 24, 2021, in search of French bulldogs, prosecutors previously said.

When they encountered Gaga’s dog walker, Ryan Fischer, with her three pets on Sunset Boulevard, a violent struggle ensued in which Jackson hit, choked and shot Fischer in an attack recorded by the doorbell camera of a nearby home.

The pooches, Koji and Gustav, were returned several days later by Jennifer McBride, who was also charged in the crime.

Fischer lost part of a lung in what he described as a “very close call with death.”

Another accomplice, Harold White, also pleaded no contest Monday. He will be sentenced next year.

Earlier this year, Jaylin White, Harold’s son, pleaded no contest to second-degree robbery and was sentenced to four years in state prison.
