John Stamos shares sweet Matthew Perry memory from 'Friends' set - Entertainment Weekly News

John Stamos is remembering Matthew Perry with a sweet story about his kindness on the set of Friends.

The Full House alum has added his voice to the many stars paying tribute to Perry, who died Saturday at age 54. In a Tuesday Instagram post, Stamos shared an anecdote from his 2003 season 9 cameo on the hit sitcom, on which he nearly played a crucial role in Chandler and Monica's (Courteney Cox) lives.

"Matthew and I had been friendly long before Friends. So, when I guest starred as Zach, the prospective sperm donor for Chandler and Monica, I hung with him a lot," Stamos recalled. "Standing backstage, ready to make my entrance, Matt whispers, 'The audience is going [to] go crazy when they see you! Get ready for some loud screams.'"

But when Stamos walked through the door, all he heard was silence.

Sharing a clip from the episode, called "The One With the Donor," Stamos continued, "I was so embarrassed. We finish the scene and as I start to slither back to my dressing room and quit showbiz, Matt walks over to the studio audience: 'Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for John Stamos! You guys probably didn't recognize him at first because he's so much better-looking in person!'"

"I never forgot that and the world will never forget you," Stamos concluded.

Stamos is far from the only actor sharing fond memories of Perry following his death. The actor, who endeared himself to the world as Chandler Bing on the long-running show, has inspired an outpouring of love from fans and stars, including those who, like Stamos, shared the screen with him.

Fellow Friends alum Aisha Tyler, who joined the cast as Dr. Charlie Wheeler for the final two seasons of the sitcom, also offered an anecdote of a sweet experience she had with Perry before her first scene.

"I will never forget the moment he leaned in, on my first night of taping Friends, to tell me warmly, 'Get ready for your life to change,'" Tyler wrote on Instagram. "Rest well, Matthew Perry. Thank you for the kindness and laughter."

Elliott Gould, who appeared in 20 episodes of Friends as Jack Geller and eventually became Perry's onscreen in-law, called him a "terrifically talented actor," adding, "It was my privilege to play his father-in-law."

Perry's longtime costars Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer expressed their collective grief on Monday with a joint statement that read, "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we're going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."

The core cast members added that they would share more in the days ahead: "In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty's family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."

Perry was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home, the victim of an apparent drowning. Results of his autopsy are pending a toxicology report, which may take weeks to finish.
