Kat Dennings Is Married to Andrew W.K.! Learn All About Their At-Home Los Angeles Wedding - Brides

It’s official: Kat Dennings found her happily ever after. On November 27, 2023, the 2 Broke Girls actress said “I do” to Andrew W.K. in an intimate wedding with 15 guests at their home in Los Angeles. A couple of weeks later, on December 11, 2023, Dennings announced the news on Instagram. “🔔 just married 🔔,” she alerted her followers. Along with the exciting information, she shared a portrait featuring the newlyweds perched on a bed of grass, which Jose Villa shot.

According to Vogue, the couple considered other venues for their big day, but no other option seemed to compare to an at-home celebration. After all, the couple did propose to one another in their kitchen three years earlier—at the exact same time, mind you. “We realized that a small home wedding was too cozy to resist,” Dennings shared with the outlet. “Plus, all our stuff was there, so we wouldn’t have to pack anything.”

Coupled with the meaningful setting, the duo's wedding was full of personal touches. In fact, Dennings took the reins on planning the function and busied herself with multiple DIY projects. “I wanted the wedding to feel completely different from an ‘industry event’ in every way,” she noted. “I even handmade all of our wedding florals, aisle pieces, and our ceremony arch, which took three entire days. I wanted to be hands-on with the entire experience and feel like we had built our moment together from scratch.”

The bride’s outfit of choice was also a departure from the traditional wedding. Instead of donning a classic white hue—she wrote off the color because she considers herself “a very pale person”—Dennings wore a vintage Alexander McQueen lace design in deep ivory. To make her decision, the bride tried on frocks in an array of colors and cuts until she found one that best suited her. Meanwhile, the groom sported a dark aubergine Brioni bespoke suit with violet piping. 

For the big day, the bride tapped her mother to escort her down the aisle (Dennings’ father passed away about a month and a half before the wedding). The rest of the ceremony was just as touching for the couple. “It was incredibly emotional for both of us, and the love surrounding us was very palpable,” Dennings recounted. Their love for one another, in particular, was noticeable. “We just looked into each other’s eyes and were so excited to finally be husband and wife,” she recalled. 

After the duo was pronounced newlyweds, the small group of guests—including close friends Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song—retreated inside, where everyone enjoyed one another’s company in a laid-back atmosphere. “Everyone was happy and enjoying themselves, and there wasn’t a dull moment,” she said. “I took my shoes off immediately.”
